Next PTA Meeting

To be confirmed

PTA Newsletter 10th September 2015

Hello to all the parents, new and old. I’d like to invite you to the first PTA meeting of the school year which will also incorporate an EGM/AGM, this will be at 7pm on Monday 28th September, in school. Some changes are being proposed to the PTA constitution, for the PTA to take on the PTA-UK model constitution with a couple of amendments, namely that all PTA members are to be part of the school staff or have a child currently at the school, and to reduce the post holders from the current 6 to 3 or 4. This would mean it would be far easier to maintain quorum at a general meeting. New post holders would be Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and possibly Vice Chair. If any of you wish to think about taking on one of the committee roles, details of general responsibilities plus other information about the PTA can be found on the school website by clicking here.

To kickstart the fundraising this school year, 3 Dads, Simon Hansel, James Kerr and Andy Roddam, plus Class 3 teacher Mr Bulmer will be donning their cycling gear on Friday 18th September to do the Coast to Coast cycle ride over 3 days. Should you wish to sponsor the group a Just Giving page has been set up or attached is a donation slip to be returned to school office, with a cash or cheque payable to Irthington Village PTA. You may wish to wait to see if they finish how well they do (!), or you may wish to give them encouragement before they set off. Any donation helps and we’ll be discussing what to spend the money on at the PTA meeting on the 28th.

The PTA also plan to have a social event at school which is not a fundraiser but a chance for parents, teachers and children to get together and meet others/catch up after the summer. The date for this has been put back this year due to some clashing events and the intended date is Friday 9th October, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. There is no charge for this but we would ask parents to bring your own drinks and a contribution to a buffet (this doesn’t have to be baking, some bags of crisps, cake, sandwiches, sausage rolls etc.) We will supply juice for the children.
An Air Ambulance collection will also be arranged in October so there is plenty of time to start clearing out your cupboards to help, date and details to follow.

Thank you, Denene Kerr, Chair.
