Please remember that every child who can safely be cared for at home should be. If we do not act responsibly and only send children if necessary, schools that are open may be overwhelmed. Please be responsible and only make use of this provision if absolutely necessary.

Jarrow Hall Visit

On Friday 17th January the children from Class 3 went to Jarrow Hall, South Tyneside.

It was a fantastic visit and everyone dressed up as a Saxon villager. We sat around the open fire in a replica Saxon house and shared riddles and the story of Beowulf. We looked around the Saxon village and Tom told us all about the animals that would have been kept at the time.

To finish the day we became warriors! The battle between the Celts and Saxons was ferocious!

Scholastic Book Fair

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the recent Scholastic Book Fair held in school.  The children were all very excited to view the books on display and it was lovely to see them so engaged.  We had such a fantastic response and exceeded our target, with sales in excess of £400, earning our school £170 in rewards towards books.

During the week we ran a competition for the children to design a poster based upon their favourite book, with a winner selected from each of the three classes.  Each person who made a purchase from the Book Fair during the week also had their name entered into a draw and two winners were selected.  Congratulations to the five winners, who all received a £5 voucher to spend at the Book Fair.

ROTA Kids Food Bank

Our ROTA Kids have been very busy with our latest effort to collect items for Carlisle Food Bank. They were out in all weather dropping leaflets to every Irthington household.

So far we have had a fantastic response. There is still a chance to donate up to the 18th December. We have a collection box in the school reception.

ROTA Kids Water Fight

On Monday 15th July the whole school took part in a water fight. The ROTA Kids raised an amazing £148!

Stay Safe on the Internet.
